So, life, what does it mean to be alive? A beating heart, air in your lungs? Movement and even conscious thought would be a good start. So, Jesus Christ, the Son of God can be seen as Life in of himself, what does that mean? How can a person BE life?
Life is all around us.
People are alive, animals, insects, birds, reptiles, bacteria and even viruses are all seemingly alive around us and fill this world with amazing, beautiful and sometimes shocking scenes which is nature.
Death is also around us and its appearance is less than beautiful and for most people is not something we surround ourselves with. Death is the opposite of life. Death is guaranteed for those who live and yet it is the most un-talked about subject ever.
“So, what are you going to do after you die” is a question no one asks. It’s a bit of an odd question if you think about it because most people assume that death is the end.
According to the bible death is actually the beginning of eternity and that will last for, well, eternity.
What you do with Jesus today will depend on where you spend eternity when you die. If you believe and have made him your Lord, which is someone you obey, then you’ll already know that Heaven is your home and that you’ve received the gift of salvation through faith and not by your own efforts or works.
If you don’t believe that He died for the sins of the world, including yours, then what awaits you in eternity is quite simply Hell.
Now, I can already hear the protestations, why would a loving God send his creation to an eternity in fire? Well, God created Hell for the angels of heaven who rebelled against him and not for mankind. As soon as sin entered into man and woman the curse was set.
There is a fire escape though.
Jesus Christ IS life. I said that at the beginning didn’t I?
What does that even mean? Let’s look!
John 14:6 Jesus is the way the truth and the life and non shall go to the father except through him.
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
John 6:33 For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.”
1 John 5:11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
So as you can see by what the Bible teaches, the life I’m referring to is eternal life which is the only life to really strive for.
All things eventually fade and die.
Accept Christ as your lord and saviour and accept eternal life, the gift from God.
Pray this prayer with me. ‘Lord God, please forgive me of my sins that I have committed against you, I’m sorry for ignoring you my whole life to this point, but today I believe in Jesus, that he died on the cross to wash my sins away, that he rose from the grave after 3 days and He is now seated at the right hand of you, my Father in Heaven. I believe Jesus is my saviour and I accept him into my life now. I know I was wrong and I will change my ways with your help, in Jesus name, amen.
